The main function of the sympathetic system is the generation of the rage and flight response, whereas the parasympathetic system is usually the opposite trying to conserve the energy for a future rage and flight response. the stimulation of the sympathetic system leads to pupillary dilatation, cardiovascular and central nervous system activation, redirection of all the resouces to the muscle and cardiovascular system, hence inactivity of the GI system and genitourinary system.
