FTFTT
Cortisol acts via affecting gene transcription. The metabolic effects are anti-insulin leading to hyperglycaemia, and it also causes increased protein catabolism. It also causes osteoporosis via diminished collagen synthesis by osteoblasts. Excess Cortisol enhances the negative feedback mechanism resulting in a reduction in the release of ACTH. Glucocorticods have about 5% intrinsic mineral corticoid effects and hence with excess can result in salt and water retention, hypokalaemia and hypertension.

d) should be false. True that cortisol inhibits ACTH release, but other hormones are released as normal
