TFTFT
CSF is an ultraflitrate of blood and is separated from it by the blood brain barrier. Due to this mechanical barrier there is a lower concentration of albumin and other plasma proteins. CSF hence has a lower buffering capacity and this is utilized by the central chemo receptors and there sensitivity to changes in the partial pressure of carbon dioxide. It contains glucose which is required for normal aerobic metabolism by neural tissue however the concentration is normally around 50% of that in the plasma.
