Practice questions
To help you prepare for the UK Clinical Aptitude Test, practice questions for the first four sections of the test, verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, abstract reasoning and decision analysis, are provided below. In addition, a sample of the fifth section of the test, non-cognitive questions, is provided below in a PDF document. Please note that these practice questions do not generate marks. If you want to know how well you did in the practice test, keep a paper note of your answers. When you are finished with practice questions for the first four sections you can check your answers against the answer key provided as a download below. The non-cognitive (fifth section) sample questions document does not include an answer key.
Please note the following:
- In the real test you will have one minute to read the instruction screen for each section. After you have begun each section you will not be able to go back and review the instructions.
- In the real test some questions will require you to review additional information such as a text passage or table. This information can be accessed by clicking on the “Exhibit” button.
- The practice questions for the first four sections is not timed the same as the real the test. The real test is faster paced than the practice questions.
- The practice questions are for use on PC based systems only. The practice questions will not run on MAC based computers.
The actual test consists of the following five sections: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, abstract reasoning, decision analysis and non-cognitive analysis. When you take the actual test, each of the first four section will consist of approximately 40 questions to be completed in roughly 20 minutes. The last section should take no more than 30 minutes to complete (
please click here to see exact times and number of questions for each section). In the practice test you will be presented with 10-15 questions per section. If you are downloading the practice questions, please be advised that broadband is preferable.
To use the .exe files, you should download (save) them to your own computer and then run them as you would run any other programme. To read and print .pdf downloads, you will need the free Reader programme from Adobe.
